Merrill taps Chan for Asia wealth arm

Merrill Lynch has hired Alison Chan as Asia-Pacific managing director and client solutions executive, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters.

Chan joins the firm from UBS AG where she helped develop the offshore wealth management business in China, Japan and Korea and earlier was head of corporate advisory for North Asia.

She will be based in Hong Kong and report to Wilson So and later her former colleague Michael Benz, whom Merrill Lynch hired from UBS as Asia-Pacific head of wealth management in September. Benz will start in March quarter.
