Citi Private Bank names Ken Peng as investment strategist, Asia-Pac

In a release, Citi Private Bank announced the appointment of Ken Peng as Investment Strategist for the Asia Pacific region. Based in Hong Kong, he will report to Steven Wieting, Global Chief Investment Strategist and So-Yon Sohn, Asia Pacific Head of Investments.

Peng will be responsible for formulating investment views and strategies for Asian markets across asset classes. He will also join CPB’s Global Investment Committee to contribute to the Bank’s asset allocation decisions.

“We are very pleased that Ken has joined CPB. He will help broaden our investment analysis and strategy capabilities, and our clients will benefit from his insight and analysis on China and the Asia Pacific region,” said Wieting.

Peng joins CPB from BNP Paribas, where he was Senior China Economist for the past two years. Prior to that, he had worked for Citi Investment Research for 11 years.

Based in Beijing and Shanghai, he covered China macro investment themes and Asia regional economics. He has also covered the United States economy and markets for Citi Investment Research in New York.

In recent years, Peng has analyzed China’s economic, political and policy challenges, with a focus on long-term investment implications. He has published extensively at Citi and at BNP Paribas, as well as in public media in both English and Mandarin. Peng was born in Beijing and grew up in the US. He received a BA from Boston College and an MBA from New York University’s Stern Business School.
