Public Bank combines 2 award-winning funds in 1

Public Bank is offering balanced and diversified investment portfolio comprising bonds and equities with its PB Templeton Asian Focus.

PB Templeton Global Asian Focus combines the performance from two multi-award winning funds to enable investors to take advantage of worldwide bond opportunities with Templeton Global Bond Fund and at the same time gain exposure to emerging economies in Asia with Templeton Asian Growth Fund by investing in equities of companies in Asia, excluding Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

"This Investment allows customers to tap into two of the best-managed offshore funds in a single investment, without having to pay any hefty upfront fees nor annual management fees, and yet benefit from the 100 percent capital protection in Ringgit Malaysia at maturity," said Managing Director Tan Sri Tay Ah Lek.

Investors will be able to participate in the performance of an underlying basket that consists of 60 percent exposure to Templeton Global Bond Fund and 40 percent to Templeton Asian Growth Fund, providing a healthy combination, and to capitalise on the maximum return from the Investment in the shortest given investment tenure of five years.

The Templeton Global Bond Fund invests in government and sovereign bonds of developed and emerging market countries, and foreign currencies.

The Templeton Asian Growth Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation by investing primarily in equity securities of companies that are incorporated or have their area of primary activity in emerging economies in Asia. The developing Asian economies are expected to be strong due to the increase in consumer demand fuelled by an expanding middle-class population, led by China and India.

The Templeton Global Bond Fund and Templeton Asian Growth Fund are managed by world-renowned investment manager Franklin Templeton Investments, which is one of the largest investment management companies in the world.

"The Bank will organise an investment seminar that features a special presentation by Dr. Mark Mobius exclusively to Public Bank's valued investors in Kuala Lumpur on 10 August 2009 subsequent to the launch of the PB Templeton Global Asian Focus to continuously engage with valued investors," said Tan Sri Tay.

This Investment is a five-year investment via Floating Rate Negotiable Instruments of Deposit and 100 percent capital protected in Malaysian Ringgit if held to maturity. The product is available up to 24 July 2009. The minimum size per investment is RM65,000 or US$18,296.9 with multiples of RM5,000 or US$1407.4 thereafter.
